How To Freeze Sperm
It is a big decision for anyone to get a vasectomy. Many couples are almost always positive that they do not want to have anymore children when they decide not to have it done. Men who are not quite as sure about their decision will freeze their sperm. This allows them to have the procedure – but still have the chance to have another baby should they change their mind.
In order to have your sperm frozen you need to talk with your doctor. Schedule an appointment and make sure to clear your day. This can be a bit expensive – but it is cheaper than having a vasectomy reversal.
The doctor will sedate you and give you a spermatic cord blocker that will numb the entire area. They will than make a small incision through the scrotum. This will isolate the epididymis.
At this point the doctor will look at the small tubes of the epididymis through a microscope. This microscope is the type that is used in operating rooms and is more accurate than most.
The doctor will than open a tube inside of the epididymis and remove a small amount of fluid with the sperm inside of it. This fluid will be inspected using the microscope to make sure that they have gotten enough out and that it is of high quality.
Once the right amount of sperm has been retrieved the doctor will close the incision. The sperm is than frozen and stored in a safe place. The patient must rest for twenty-four hours before they can return to their normal activity. This sperm will be available if or when the man changes his mind and wishes to have more children. It will be inserted into the woman through a process known as in vitro fertilization.
